Instructor Trainings

Licensing
For the first year, or until you've taught 3 full Miracle Swimming classes in 12 months, you're a Trained Instructor. Once you've fulfilled that requirement, you become a Licensed instructor, empowered to teach our Introductory Half-day, Beginning, and Next Step classes in accordance with the agreement.
Licensing Agreement
The Licensing Agreement will be sent to you before your online training ends. Please read it over and bring any questions with you to the training.
The licensing agreement says, in summary:
- You, the instructor, will take the online course plus the 6-day hands-on training, plus 4 monthly one-hour teleconferences to answer your questions in the field.
- You teach 3 Beginning classes to at least one person in the first 12 months to practice what you learned: much is learned by teaching.
- Once you've taken the training and taught 3 Miracle Swimming Beginning classes in 12 months, you become a licensed instructor. Until then, you're a trained instructor. You need to keep teaching it to keep learning the material and stay fresh.
- The licensing fee is $100/year per instructor. It's included in the training fee for the first year (until December of that year). We recommend that each instructor pay his/her own licensing fee.
- 10% of gross revenues of Miracle Swimming classes is sent back to MSI. This percentage decreases as revenues rise above a certain level for large teaching outlets.
- The course material is proprietary: you may not license someone else to teach it but you may inform your staff of the principles so they may use them.
- Books and DVDs and Student Handbooks are purchased from MSI (the source) at wholesale prices.
- MSI will put a link on the conquerfear.com website to your website referring clients to your classes.
- In locations where there is currently a swim school that exclusively teaches Miracle Swimming (Brandon, FL, Berkeley, CA, and Sarasota, FL), there will be a 15 mile buffer around that school as a protected MSI-territory. An exception will be made if the protected school agrees to share its territory.
- In locations where there's an MSI-licensed instructor, there will be a 15 mile buffer around that school as a protected MSI-method territory unless those instructors okay the training of additional instructors in their territory. Currently these locations are: Dallas, TX, West Sacramento, CA, Seattle, WA, Bowie, MD, London, England, and Mill Valley, CA.
- As of September 1, 2008, there are no new territories since YMCAs and municipalities will need multiple MSI trained instructors. Territories will no longer be needed once the public understands that virtually all adults and children taking beginning swimming lessons at any swim school or agency need the MSI course content.

Taught my first private Miracle Swimming lesson. The results surpassed the client's and my expectations.
...If it were not your script and program but rather just some additional knowledge I'd learned, I would have fallen back into my typical mode of dazzling the audience with my treasure trove of knowledge, drills, and experience. But since it's your program they've paid for, I've been freed to be more patient than I knew I could be. I find myself governing myself and thinking about how to keep 8 sessions filled with new items from each of the [ten fronts]. I'm looking forward to more learning from teaching. Thank you for sharing this with me and with those that follow.
